SLIPKID'S Concert Photo Archives - Mick Taylor
Mick Taylor, for those who don't know, was the lead guitarist for the Rolling Stones from about 1969-1974, which is what I consider to be the peak period for the band. Mick joined after the death of Brian Jones, and his fluid bluesy lead playing drove the band in a more rockier direction rather than the classic 60s pop style which they excelled at when Brian was a member. I feel that Mick T. has been the most skilled player the Stones have ever had, and his tasty lead licks blend in perfectly with Keith Richards' more rhythmic playing style. You can hear Mick's playing on Stones' classics like the live GET YER YAS YAS OUT, LET IT BLEED, STICKY FINGERS, EXILE ON MAIN STREET, IT'S ONLY ROCK'N'ROLL, and GOATS HEAD SOUP. Mick quit the band in 1974, and while the Stones have continued their claim to "the greatest rock'n'roll band in the world" with Ronnie Wood replacing Mick on lead guitar, Mick Taylor has undeservedly faded almost into obscurity despite releasing several excellent albums and continuing to perform live.

This show was a double bill also featuring John Mayall and his band. Ironically, Mick used to be the guitar player in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers before he joined the Rolling Stones!
