U.S. Winter 2000

Andy Powell - guitar, vocals
Mark Birch - guitar, vocals
Bob Skeat - bass, backing vocals
Ray Weston - drums

The band set out on the road for about two weeks worth of club dates for a rare U.S. tour, criss-crossing across the country making for a tough trip during the beginning of the winter weather. Although there were some tough spots to go through weather-wise, and some of the venues were less than 100% accomodating, the fans that made the gigs were not disappointed - hey, nothing like suffering through FOUR horrible opening bands until midnight before you get to hear good stuff like Wishbone right?

As if he didn't have enough to contend with a full day of travelling and various hassles with the venue, Andy slipped and injured his leg during soundcheck. The photograph does not do the wound justice - it was a lot more swollen and painful than it looks! But the show must go on.... Andy asked me to take these photos - honest! Now you can see what musicians go through on the road behind the scenes to bring you ROCK'N'ROLL!!!! Quote: 'I'm getting better....' The view for concert photos was not too good from back at the merchandise table. Never one to hesitate to oblige the fans, Andy hangs out after the show and signs and signs and signs autographs for those that ask. One guy brought over 30 albums!!!!! In this shot, Andy signs a mini-Flying V guitar for Scott Picard!!! Tim Barrow, and concert-king Greg Cohen, with Andy. The guy on the far left is the one who brought his entire Wishbone album collection! Leon Tsilis, the webmaster, with his harem of Catholic Girls. Back in the merchandise closet... Jamming on Scott Picard's mini-V!

Thanks to my nephew Seth for taking most of these photos for me while I minded the merchandise store at the rear of the venue.

Somewhere in the darkness lurks the Scotsman. Mark with a new fan of the band, the irrespressible Al Smith. Al supposedly had never heard of them until this night, but he left a convert to the Wishbone cause. Andy with my nephew Seth. Ironically, someone had placed a 'RELATIVE ASH' sticker on one of the bar stools in the club which Andy happened to be sitting on. Never one to miss a good photo op, I had to capture the irony of it all...
